Thanks, appreciated.
Well, latest news: After running 13.05 at Bugorama, I found out on the way home that I'd broken something in the tranny. I knew the tranny was the weak spot in my system, but it happened sooner than later. SOOOOO I think I'm going to start from scratch, take the body off of the chassis, buy a Boxster chassis, and do something along the lines of this guy: Bugster I know that big power is possible from aircooled thanks to Wally, but I really want the balance of mid-engine, and buying a salvage Boxster S will be the easiest and most cost effective way of getting a great handling car that looks like a Bug. I'm shooting for lowish miles and running, but I do like the idea of 4-500 hp in a chassis that is predictable, so down the road I may do a VR6 or V8 like Hugo. I just feel like I've come a long way toward my goals, but that I won't get the type of handling I want with the chassis that I have. I might be parting out the chassis I have now, anyone interested in a double wishbone front end like Mendeola only bolt on? Jason

Just got a text that we are good for this afternoon, so she should be home tonight. Well, honestly, it was body damaged, but not enough that I wouldn't have fixed it. It has a tear in the body panel between the air inlet duct and the edge of the fender on the drivers side where it cut off or was cut off by a semi(large truck/trailer). The wheel lugs tore into the body from there back to the wheel, which was damaged, as well as on of the control links. So, with a new control link, new tire/wheel, and a patch to the quarter panel this would have been just fine, but I couldn't resist $7k and it's exactly what I wanted as far as interior and tranny so it's getting chopped!

Got it off a guy selling Porsche engines on Craigslist. Some cool Ukranians to boot! Good guys. Anyhow, I'm going to keep the UBRDUB together and build this one from scratch so I started a new thread for it here:

Won't be any posts here for awhile, I'm going to get the Ragster into a driver before I get back to the UBRDUB.

A little update: So last Memorial Day weekend I broke the 02J tranny I had in this car. It's been pretty much just sitting there ever since, but about a month ago I decided to get back on this again. I had purchased a 02M 6 speed tranny a couple of years ago in preperation for the 02J breaking, so I took it and the motor down to Griffin Motorwerke to have 1st and 2nd gear shift forks upgraded and a Wavetrac LSD installed. While I'm at it I'm having Integrated Engineering con rods put in. It was supposed to just be the rods, but it turned out I had a small run engine in which odd pistons and rods were used, so I'm getting JE forged pistons as well. For the clutch we are going with a SPEC clutch and lightweight steel flywheel.
In preparation for the new tranny, I've had to redu the master/slave setup, and it was not cut and paste. (no surprise here) The new master is plastic and the slave is a circular part that actually surrounds the output shaft. I didn't know what the volumes of either were, so I'm re-creating the stock setup specifically having to utilize the quick connects that come stock. It will be nice when its done, but it's a PIA now. So on the master end, it's required a sleeve to allow the Wilwood pedal engage the new clutch master. My friend Micheal has been amazingly helpful with the odd machine jobs I've had to do and this was no exception. The old VW master had a large enough diameter rod that I was able to just cut threads right into it and utilize it by itself in the pedal assembly. The new plastic master has a smaller diameter shaft, so I needed to build an adapter to retain the use of the pedals.
