Hi
I was moving some stuff around in my dungeon today so I dragged my headlight box out and did a mockup. This is what the Xenon lights should look like under early Beetle headlight glasses. Steve

Do have a pic of the other side? where you cut to clear the projector.

hey guys, newbie here, but I found this a while back while searching for HID's for my early fenders...
7 in HID lights no offense to you guys who've done it the hard way, but as I've noticed that all the VW lights are 7 in sealed beams, why not just grab a pair of these and install them like stock lights? They're actually made for police motorcycles, but I don't see why they can't be used on our VWs... :agree: |

$1000 for a pair and they aren't even bi-xenons. Projectors also change the looks. I prefer the quality aspect of fitting OEM parts that you will be able to get replacement parts for in the future too..

I found them on the manufacturer's website for less...
J.W. Speaker site How hard would it be to convert it to bi-xenon? just a thought... |

Bi-xenons have a seperate solenoid operated flapper in front of the light so too complicated to DIY.

also from what i can see thats just the price of the light assembly. thats not counting the balast/ starter. which is another $280. that seems steep for a bright light.

"The Model 8100 is more than just a headlight replacement. It is a whole new lighting system that includes the headlight, bulbs, starter, ballast, wires and waterproof control module."
straight from the product spec sheet from their website... Hey, I'm not tryin' to force it on anybody, I was only tryin' to help out other guys who perhaps aren't as savvy as SteveC and Hugovw1976... honestly, I think what Hugo's got = amazing and Steve's setup l00ks like it's gonna be totally sweet. And if they'd be willing to, at some point I'd ask 'em if they'd be interested in doin' a set for my bug when it's at that stage... but until I found germanlook.com last night, I hadn't heard hide or hair about anyone VW tryin' to go the HID route. I don't consider myself tech savvy enough with that type of electronics to tackle a job like that, so it seemed the logical route to me... sry if I stepped on anybody's toes by finding the "easy way out"... :bashful: Last edited by Quik; February 19th 2006 at 02:21. no way dude. i had no idea that was a complete kit. in that case thats a good price. i was looking for the balast and other stuff on thier site and all i found was the 12v and 24v balast so i thought you had to purchase those seperatly. i may actually look into that for my 1303. i love the way those look at night. and youre right about stevec and hugo those setups are awesome. :agree: so what im trying to say is it was my mistake and i was wrong.

Hi
I saw Hyosung motorcycle on the road today, it looked like it had HID headlights that may be suitable to fit into a Beetle headliht. Steve

Ive seen 7" HID replacement units for H2 Hummers. They are expensive but may work.
