Type 3 with 944 brakes?? Help.....
Hello,
I've got a 72 type 3 and i want 944 n/t disc's all around. I have read that the rear is bolt on, but am somewhat confused by the e-brake setup.... it's an internal shoe style setup? As for the fronts, I understand that I would need bearing adapters and machine work to the 944 hubs to make them bolt up... Anybody want to give me a good source or better yet make me some adapters? machine shops here cant do it if its not related to a chevy 350. Also, anyone have SIMPLE plans for the caliper mounts both front and rear? I have some fabrication skills, and am fairly sure i could make the brackets as long as their not amazingly intricate. My t-3 has disc's upfront already, but i'm guessing it doesn't match up....... Thanks in advance, Jay Last edited by anticpunk; February 1st 2004 at 18:27. |

For the rear 85.5 and older 944 rear suspension bolts on. 85.5 and newer rear suspension takes a little more work to bolt up. Search the forums for the information. It might take a little while but its all there, somewhere.

Shad Laws did the same conversion to his old fasty and posted about the conversion, from what I remember it seamed very simple. Use the search function.
