Aussi Subaru WRX powered German Looker

G'day guys

I havn't been on here for a long time. I just gave my 71 Superbug a facelift with new paint & interior. I've owned this car for 19 years now, the conversion has been done for over 5 years now & has clocked up 155'000ks (96'000miles). it has 204hp & 221ft torque @ the wheels on only 8 pounds boost.

It takes the kids to school & also gets a floggin on the track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5oONJigD_I

Hope u like the pics

Yeh new seats, they are my favourite bit actually, they are stunning. Retractable seat belts are fantastic as well.

Brakes ended up being awesome.

Jak

Wow, looks very cool

What about the cooling? I can see holes in the spoiler, but let's look underneath, what heat exchanger do You use?

Your car has always been an inspiration and I'm glad to see it's still kicking. I love the new color and the seats look great, what are they from, RX8? Are you still on a stock tranny or has that long since died?

I found some pics that I posted on Samba many years ago of the radiator setup. I have 2 radiators in the front, one for the engine, one for the intercooler. They lay on an angle & only come to the heightof the original spare wheel well, which means I still have all of the original luggage space.

The seats are from ebay, the brand is Autotechnica, it tool me some time ot find the right ones, as most aftermarket seats are very large width wise in a beetle, with these, I have 3 inches between the seats. They stunning, I really like them, they alos have the holes for the race harness, which means I don[t have to swap seats for the track anymore.

Jak

Oh , I forgot, the tranny is a single side plate unit with kombi gears inside. the first one lasted 65'000ks (40'000miles) before some stupid drag racing killed it.
I had another already built the same so it was a case of simply swapping them

I was originally going to go with either Audi or Porsche gunmetal grey, in the end I just picked something close striaght from the painters colour chart. Much easier to match if I need to paint something else
