911 oil temp gauge...what sender?

i decided to go with a 911 oil pressure and temp combo gauge over the 914 gauge. oil pressure seems to be fine. i bought a 300 degree T1 temp sender (for the drain plug) for my TIV engine. the 60 miles i got to run the engine the oil temp read fine. when popping the valve cover off immediately after stopping, jake is saying based on the blisters forming on his arm and his expereince that the oil was closer to 230 or higher.

anyone running this gauge and know compatability? going to check on Pelican too, but though i would keep some info over here if possible.
