No TV on Christmas eve here. First coilover is in place.

Awesome! Those alu-arm inserts are 'da thing' for that job. I've seen those at a few 944 us-shops when I looked for a solution as well.

Thanks Wally. My thoughts exactly. They cost a bit, but now I know it is save.

Paul, the one thing i see there that needs careful scrutiny, is the offset axis on the damper eyes, take the springs off and cycle the a arm through its full range to check for binding before its made final, its normal engineering practice to align the two fixings on the same axis as near as possible, it will have a rotational moment on the damper i would guess, this can load either the spring perches/spring, or the fixings, and the single shear lower one needs all the help it can get, i know the spherical eyes take a fair bit of miss alignment, but they work VERY hard in that plain, then have a heavy spring with a LOT of leverage acting on it to cope with, then it can bottom out, and bingo, busted bolts, one reason why the Porsches have a longer travel/ shock, not by much, but they are longer. regards, Johnny.

Repeat that suggestion. I snapped a shock shaft, which we determined to be due to a minor misalignment in my custom shock mounts.

Good thinking! You Mimicked the stock fixings, now you only have bottoming out the spring or shock to check for, the wheel travel will be more than the apparent shock travel, the problems get bad when you want to run very low because the spring is on the limit length wise even at the stock ride height, they can become coil bound, this is why very low race cars move the shock, effectively trading droop travel for more bump travel, in other words, raise the upper mount, the off-road boys have seen the problem on the Baha bugs and tube frame buggies. Please don't think I'm dissing your build, far from it, just my findings as far as running low goes, most street builds will be o,k but it won't hurt to know what really goes on with the suspension, my car bottoms on the spring plate fixing bolt heads, and it still needs to go down another inch! Ideally it needs the torsion tube raising up, and the shock towers axing completely, exactly what Porsche had to do to get them to the proper ride height ..you will overcome it I know

I love the lower coilover conversion bolts (racer's edge i think) and as I said previously I totally trust them. I did ruin a set and a trailing arm by getting too aggressive with my lowering and hamming the hell out of the bump stops. My fault. I've got another set installed and they've been great.

@Humble. Yes these are the racer's edge bolds. They are not cheap but I didn't whant to use a normal bold. These tacer's edge bolds are made to use this way. Paul.
