NOW

Last week thuesday I had maked some plates for the dash and for welding close an ventilationgab in the heater channels. I then also unscrewed the steering pilar. And get on search for good hammer and dollies. Because mine are now verry cheap ones, which are $hitty.

Last friday I cut away the border of the engine lid and welded that close.

Also last saturday I had worked on the car (before I got partying) for 1,5 hour. I begin with installing the 2 lowest hoodpins; i say it again; WHAT AN PAIN in the *** are that hoodpins on an round decklid .
I "finished" that tonight=> see pic

I also finally have decided which rear lights I want to use.

Grt Wiebrand

p.s. I'm in Canada this summer for 6 weeks.
p.s. keep an little bit ontopic

Hey Wiebrand,

Where in Canada will you be ?

If you are in the Toronto / Hamilton area you should drop by for a beer !

En dan kun je me ook ff helpen met mijn kever

To keep it on topic: is it possible the decklid warped because of the welding ?

Rob.

I'm talking about the differents in round form on the left and right end of the decklid. It has not the same form as the body. If I set the pins higher, the form is alsmost okay, but then there will be an gab on the underside, between body en decklid (where the rubber will be).

Part of the issue may be warping of the deckild as a result of all the welding. Are you going to install the rubber seal? If not, I'd split the difference on the center vs. edge gap using rubber spacers (doughnuts) on the pins to set the height...

So far I could see today it's definatelly the rear panel that is more "round" then the original one. Will be banging it straight soon

Today received the ordered hammer and dollies. I used it today a couple of times, and I must say quality is just so much better then the cheap ****.

Yesterday evening and 3/4 of today wordt on my car with an temperature against freezing. At first finished the scoop on the enginelid.

And also started with an upset of the dashboard.

looks like you are making some good progress, even if frustrating. i too am getting ready to tackle hood pins for the c/f decklid i have. my plan is to just fab some brackets that will mount to the stock hinge and latch locations and tie the hood pins in there. so i can flip back to stock at any point needed (with the stock decklid with no holes of course).

i'm not sure how much easier that is really going to be, but will let you know.

keep up the good work. if you make it down to Atlanta, let me know so we can hook up.

Thanks Guys

Had been working on the bug yesterday afternoon. I was planning to make an hole new dash by myself. That plan I still have, but is set back for an couple years now because the budget (which budget ?) don't let it.
So I started making an temporary dash.

Besides the switches there also will be signallights.

Hi

Make sure that you can see the speedo behind the steering wheel, this is a problem on 1303s with a smaller steering wheel.

Thanks, I know that. I had an 350mm steeringwheel in my mind. But this was without any seats, so I don't know exactly where I come out in the future. But hell yeah this is only temperary.

Wiebrand

It will quite for the next 2 weeks, I'm going to china.
