raising the tranny???
anyone lower the tranny of there beetle?
Ive seen lowering kits from RLR, but they only do it about an inch. It would be nice to be able to lower 2 or 3 inches. this way you could keep stock ride and match the lowered spindles in the front.

If you raised the tranny 2-3" inches in the body then the shift rod would have to be relocated above the center tunnel.

I raised mine by about 5", but I have a 915 transmission so the shift rod lines up with the original hole at the rear of the tunnel.

Had a buddy that had a 66 w/18x9 porsche wheels all around-he raised trans to get rid of camber. raised the front of trans to the limit(before shift linkage bind) i think .75-1'' or something like that.
on rear mount, he raised it alot more than that, i think a couple of inches. motor and trans was uneven, but worked ok. He had to fab cooling tin and make removable inner fender panels so he could adjust valves without pulling the engine! Also had to clearance rear floor for trans clearance. Make removable panels beefy, or the back end of the car will have serious booty shake probs over bumps. |

By the time you raise the transmission, clearance everything so the engine lid will shut over the engine and the engine will not hit the engine lid brackets, along with the shifter rod problems, you could've converted it to IRS and had a better handling bug
Seriously though... it's a lot of work for 2-3 inches max. MG
