Disks on machined down drums for hubs?

Is it possible to use dropped drum spindles and drums with the braking surface machined off to create hubs so that I can use some rotors from U-Pull It with my wheel bolt pattern? My only concern would be if there is something on the drum spindles to mount the calipers to. Can you weld to them? Thanks.

I know there is a thread on this subject a few lines lower, but it does not answer the my question. Another question, do drums and disks have the same bearing surfaces?

All the Ball joint (T1 and T3) drums, disks and super beetles use the same taper roller bearings. [There is one exception, the really early BJ cars (65-66) had a different inner bearing. ] Hope that helps.
