motor is in and running but i've got no clutch
so i finally got my new motor running and i go to take it for a boot...... and i can't put the car in gear.
it's got a new clutch and pressure plate. if i put in the clutch....... it feels like i did but with no clutch engagement if i shut the motor off, put it in gear and try to start it she lopes ahead even with the clutch pedal depressed. do i need to adjust when installing a new clutch? i would have thought i would have something there. i'm just wondering if i got the wrong pressure plate. the guy i got it from had both a 914 and a super one, and he wasn't 100% sure it was the right one. but it looked identicle to my old one, and when i brought it home it bolted up perfect. well i adjusted the clutch cable from undernaeth (there was quit a bit of slack) i go inside to see how the clutch is and the pedal won't move. can you guys think of anything that might be causing this problem? thanks jeff

bad pressure plate and also on closer inspection my clutch plate had rusted to my flywheel.
ffs. just picked up a new pressure plate and resurfaceing the flywheel now also cleaning up the clutch plate.
