Porsche Tire/Wheel clearance

Hi Everyone!
I am just buttoning up my porsche 944na brakes, and 17x7/9 (et55) wheel installation. I am running 205/40/17 tires in the front and 255/40/17 tires in the back.

My question is about clearance between the tires and suspension components. Ex. spring plates/bump stops in the back and the strut spring in the front.

The way it is now, I have about 1-3mm of clearance between the tire and any given component. I have been told that if i am driving aggresively the tire will flex and rub said components.

Should I be concerned, should I use spacers? How much do you think the sidewall of a 40 series tire will flex?

Thanks.

I think 5 mm clearence would be minimum with a really low profile tire. With a 'normal' tire like 195/65 or a 205/55, I would say 10mm should be safe.

I know what it is like being stranded with your family in the car with a flat, torn tire because of too little clearance..

Regards,
Walter

Well, I suppose that I'll look into some spacers then.
