Question Speed only with GPS?

Hello

I am looking for suitable instruments for my project.
I have found something, but unfortunately there is a big catch.
The models that I like are unfortunately only GPS supported.

https://www.speedhut.com/customizer.i?clid=7880516

https://www.speedhut.com/gauges/?catid=f376

I asked, but I did not like the answer. "Yes, we certainly have instruments that work with VSS"
Grrrrr., But not my favorite.
I can not eat as much as I want to puke!

Now my question.
Is it really allowed in the US to only show the speed via GPS?
Here in Germany / Europe it is not allowed.

Here in the USA / Canada, they don't (to my knowledge) specify how the speed must be read. I have a GPS calibrated speedometer in my Rally Bug. It's annoying when it drops to zero in tunnels, or simply doesn't pick up a signal at the start of a drive. Not surprised you can't use a GPS feed in Europe.

Thank you for your comment.

I can use a GPS feed here, but i don't know what it takes to me if they (our race control/ lol) control it.

I'am going to contact Speedhut and hope they will aply the possibility to use a speed sensor to my instrument choise.

I think it could be a thing of money. (that i don't have/ lol)

The usual problem with VSS vs. a GPS, is calibrating with the number of pulses. My Rally computer, for instance, is designed for VSS and can barely use the GPS sensor because the number of pulses is so different from what it expects.

OK, I'm trying to express myself.

It is meant ironically.
As long as nobody controls it, nobody will be interested here.
But since it is not allowed, I have to expect it when I get into control [e.g. by the police = (joke: race control), or legality check (TÜV)] to be punished.
