Tranny Trouble

i am looking for a transmission but don't really know what to look for. i need something that can bolt in meaning a porsche 5 speed is out of the question. i'm still learning the ropes of all this (16 yrs old). i want something that has both low end capabilites but also doesn't top out at ONLY 100mph. i want to be fast at the light but have a little bit of triple digit play space too. any idea what i'm looking for? and can you guys point me in the right direction. thanks for all the help. -nick

the old saying applies "anything is possible with enough money"

so if you don't have money, it isn't possible.

sounds like you're wanting some custom gearing, so be prepared to pay for it.

A built tranny will set you back about $800 or more if you go nuts. What type of engine do you have or are expecting to have in the future. How much does your car weigh? Is it a full street car or a stripped out race car.

A stock 74 trans will do the job. To go over 100mph takes more hp than stock, not different gearing. The gears in a stock 74 trans, along with enough hp can easily do this.
