oil squirters
Good evening, I had Rimco some time ago install the Porsche oil squirters in my case. Since having oil squirters is a must even running aluminum cylinders/nikasil coated.
Anyone have any pics of your squirter location? I feel if the squirters don't apply oil over the inside of the piston, the cooling effect may not work. Sorry but my pics are not clear enough to show. |

That's my solution. I use 0,8mm MAG welding nozzles.

I have used 0,6mm welding nozzles on a 1200cc type 1. I did not see any difference in head temperature or oil temperature or reduction in pinging or anything else. I personally do not believe they are necessary. The only advantage I see in them, is that the wrist pin gets extra oil, which is helpful if you run high rpms, like the Porsches do.

Good morning, from what I have read, it's a must if you use aluminum cylinders and having them coated. I believe(.003) is the piston to wall clearance, its supposed to help with the piston heat expansion. And using the Porsche squirters keeps 28lbs oil pressure in the system. My question was on how machine shops locate them in a type IV case, is there abetter position on the mains.

There really isn't any options on the location because of piston skirt clearance and the proper squirt angle.

Thanks, Rimco did the work.

Well.....I'v got also Porsche oilsquirters on a TF-1 case and aluminum nikasil cylinders. My cylinders are LN engineering - Charles at LN engineering said that oilsquirters are definetly not necessary with his nickies + JE's on a N/A VW engine, but they dont hurt either.
Rimco and Brothers VW can install them properly. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/vie...irters&start=0 http://shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=374158 http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/vie...578697#5578697 |

Wow,I didn't know brothers did that kind of work, they are here locally , in Ontario, CA. when I get some more money, I'll have them finish up my project. I need my lifter bore bushes for 356 lifters, re-bushed for the Type one lifters. I also had some type IV barrels made, no they are not LN. They were made for the left side only, so I'll use brothers to re -bore for the right side cylinder stud pattern. |
