wtd -boxter caliper info
hey
I need some infomation on the boxter calipers if anyone has some, my local porsche workshop seem to think they would be a straight swap onto a 944 setup to replace my slide calipers. Trouble is i doubt the mountings will be the same, and also have concerns about discrepencies in the disk width and which master cylinder to use. any info would be appreciated guys as these calipers look very modern having being machined out of aluminium or something (as you can see i have only just started to look into them.) The price of the calipers is great so i may just have to go for it!!! Adam |

ta for the link darren
i wasnt planning on using boxter disks, just the boxter calipers and the 944 vented disks etc. R.e. the brake upgrade, i use a local breakers just up the road from my house, they supply the bits but i modify everything for my own car, as being porsche specialists they charge porsche hourly rates!!!! something a student cannot afford One of our lads in the club have just took theyre split bus into david thomas in solihull, he owned the yellow and white bay in volksworld not so long ago. I have seen some of his work and it is top notch plus he knows his stuff. I'll let you know how that turns out soon!!! hope thats of some help Adam Last edited by bug-er; October 18th 2003 at 07:05. |

Hello Darren!
All 944/951 has axial mounted front/rear calipers (except 951s has fronts radial mounted)996 and 986 (boxster) has both front rears radial mounted.Soo they are NOT a straight bolt-on you need adapters to mount them. If you are in UK lee arnold should be able to help you! good luck

Hey Darren,
I used to live in Stockport (Davenport) too till I moved to Sydney. How much were your calipers? I'm thinking of doing a similar conversion to my 61 Karmann cabrio beetle over here in Oz. Cheers Steve |

Hi Steve
I cant imagine why you left Stockport for Oz . I paid around £500 for them and im still looking for a way to use them that wont cost me the price of a screaming motor! Adam... wheres the pics of your 994 gear then |

there you go sorry it took me a while. As you can see from the picture, the 944 caliper bolts right up onto the caliper mount. so from what people have said, the 996 and boxter caliper mount the same but the face is rotated 90 degrees. I think this is right sorrect me if i am wrong Will try and do some reasearch as soon as i have a minute, got a few more leads to go on, but i think it is definatly possible to do. Adam |
