My first Beetle :D 1303s Moss green metallic

Hi everyone I thought I would show my Bug its a 1974 1303s I got the car just over a year ago and has been my daily drive. When I got the car it was completely stranded and original and in good nick. I'm 18 and been driving almost a year.

Since I'v owned the Bug I have striped most the car and checked it and rebuilt it its all waxoiled, I have put 2" lowered springs on the front and replaced basicly everything but soon i will be lowering it on adjustable struts and adjustable spring plates the pics will explain what iv done.

I almost bought a "Big 1303" from the UK that was Moss Green Metallic -- a color never offered here in the states, and one of my favorites. That was two-plus years ago if I recall correctly. I even practiced shifting gears with my left hand across my body with the daily in anticipation. I had all of the arrangements made when the seller told me a local beat me to the punch.

It is still one of my colors even though I'm not generally a fan of green, and having a RHD special edition not available here would have been nice as my second GL car.

What you have done is excellent! Does my heart good to see it. Congrats!

Thanks everyone im working on a couple of bits at the moment like my 5 gauge dash and a 1914cc engine.....

I have been looking at everyone's Germanlook dashes and i think it really makes some cars, So i thought i would try something different as well The dash i am using is a dash i got from VZI, i didn't use mine as its still ok and its still in my car as i use it every day

This is a old pic i'v done more work on it now, i have shaped it a lot better now but cant upload pics at the moment.

Dash looks good, I've just gone through all the work with mine and it's now with the trimmer to be done in leather. Gapping for the leather and fixing all the imperfections once the rest of the plastic was stripped off took ages!

Being in the UK, you have more options than we do in the US. I had TopLine on my 1302 and I'm 95% sure I would do it again should I get another Super. The only other option I considered at the time was Kerscher. By the time I paid the price difference and had them shipped to the US, I couldn't justify the price difference. I'm not sure how having TopLine shipped to you would affect your decision-making.

By most accounts that I remember, Kerscher is a little more robust in that it can be tweaked after being already installed and has dynamic intermediate settings whereas the TopLine MaXX (the one I used) had a finite number of settings which required the strut to be off of the car for any changes to be made.

Since I didn't race my 1302 or had wildly varying conditions, the TopLine MaXX struts were more than enough -- easy to install (the original struts were actually more difficult to work loose), high quality, and excellent response as I did take my Super to the limit on occasions.
