Paint color

Anyone have any pictures of maroon GL/ Euro bugs? I was gonna go with Polar Silver but I decided to do something a little more reddish, but still dark. I was thinking like a coagulated blood color (not to sound "Goth" or anything, but that's the best way I can describe it...) So does anyone have any pics or color codes/names I can check out?

That looks pretty good. Any other ideas out there? Mainly I just want a name for the color, so when I walk into the paint place I can tell them the color I want straight out instead of saying "maroonish, blackish, blood color..." i.e., I don't want to sound like an idiot

How about the red vert that Superman posted in the "What's your definition......." thread (2nd page)? I think that's a cool color.

I really like those shades of maroon, but I'm thinking of something darker, still. Almost black at one angle, but maroonish in the light and reflections. It'd probably have to be a metallic with pearl, but I can't paint with metallics... CRAP!!

paimnt suppliers are used to people doing that.. if you walk in, ask for a few swatch books from diferent manufacturers and take em away and check out all the dark reds and pick one you like.. alternatively, you can do as some of my friends have done.. take an item of clothing, a mug, a kids toy, anything that has the colour you like on it, and most paintshops worth their salt will mix a batch of paint to that exact colour.. i know someone who took one of his wifes shoes to his local paint suppliers to get them to match the colour for the bottom half of his split screen van!! LOL!!

As has been said find something which is the color you want. Paint shops can mix a sample up for you, and you can say 'a bit darker' or 'more red' or 'add some metallic please'. It happens all the time
Keep your eyes open on modern cars too, if you see one in a color you like then remember the make and model and you should be able to get a paint code very easily.

I saw a color that I actually wanted as my inserts for my seats. Its called "black cherry". Its in the TMI catalog. I'm sure someone makes a color similar in paint.

Thanks, guys, I think I found my car's new paint scheme! That black cherry would look sweet on my car with tinted windows and silver 17s!! I'll keep you all posted on the paintjob and the car. I should be able to get some pics of it in the current condition this weekend, so I'll try to post those ASAP! I'll DEFINITELY get some pics to you all after I paint it! Thanks again!!
