I need help on motor mounts for a mazda rotary 13B turbo in a bug

Thanks to kennedy engineering I can bolt up a rotary engine into a pug with little fuss. The only catch is there doesnt seem to be any kit or plans on how to support the nose of the engine as it needs the support from the motor mounts. are ther any fixed hard point in the rear of a bug to affix a cross bar for motor mounts?

Check http://frost.bbboy.net/vwengineconversions
they might have some tips.

I think in general the rear bumper mounts are used.

there are no mounts for the bumper it is affixed to the fiberglass. it's more for looks than anything structural. But as I am cutting into this car [restty heavily, maybe I'll fabricate something. I was wondering if I could use the transmission horns and just continue them back further.

Yep, some of the Sube-into-Vanagon boys do that.

The rotary engine only weighs 190 lbs. give or take a few pounds. Do you really need to use rear engine mounts. The stock VW engine weighs almost that much and it doesn't need rear mounts. What about just solid mounting the trannsmission since the rotary is a very smooth running engine.

from what I know is in the design of the motor itself. The type 1 motor is a solid piece, split into two halves lengthwise. The rotary motor is split into 5 pieces plit cross wise. so just like the VW motor if you hung it from a cylinder head, you'll put undue stress on the motor, which will start to leak oil, then it will start damaging theinternals. If Mazda put mounts on it,... well it's probably for a reason. I personally would rather have the motor locked in place firmly, than have it come apart, warp, or break due to improper support. You can drive a V-8 around without the motor mounts hooked up too. But as soon as the right conditions occur, then bam!
