915 Trans

Hi everyone, I just received a 915 trans. I don't know anything about it. I was told it was from a 1982, and it supposed to have 8:15 ratio r&p. On the case I could only find the numbers 915.301.301.3R. Where else on the case can I find spec's about gear ratios and ect.

Hi

That looks like the part number of the particular part with that number on it. Im pretty sure that trans number will be on the bottom, it will be stamped into the casing, I'm guessing that number you posted above was in cast in raised lettering.

The number is stamped on the bottom of the differential housing. Should start with 915/63 then the serial #. From my info 1980-84 have 915/63 on them. If it's a 1976 and up it has a 8:31 r&p (72-74 have 7:31)
