Best Transmission for Kafer

Which is the best transmission for a kafer with 140-250 HP??? Typ 4 or subaru motor!

I have heard that the gearbox of the 912 is not so strong for that power and i can fit another 911 that handles the power! Which one?

The 901 from a 912 or 911 (1966-1969) is supposed to be good for a little over 200hp. The 915 trans from 1972 to 1982(I think) is considerably stronger but a little harder to install due to larger size and clutch actuation. The 1970-1971 911/01 is inbetween those two.

I think the dates are correct but I may be off a year on the 11/01.

You will really need to determine your gear ratio needs first weither you use the bug or Porsche trans. The Porsche came with various ratios and both trans are quite expensive to change ratios from stock. The bug is quite a bit cheaper than the Porsche of course. Either can be built for the power level you need at a considerable cost of course.
