my new motor
Its the best out of the 2 motors i have. It has a Universal Type 1-3 case, 040 heads, stock rockers, stock cam, only has less thean 7k miles, the heads are super clean like they just came off the shelf.I got a standard header, glasspack (its leaning on the wall) bosch 009, bosch blue coil, 34 pic carb.Basically its stock but its my first motor. The other I may use the longblock section as a core to get a basic 1776-1914 if possible. |

After its on the road which should be either july or august (one of the 2) and after I give it the stance that I want I was thinking of going with bolt on power since i have a c/w crank already and it was rebuilt couple years ago.How would a 1600cc react to 1.4:1 forged rockers (with shortened pushrods), merged 1.5" header w/ hideout muffler, big valve heads with 40x35mm valves (since everyone says its all in the heads, where the power is at) dual 40IDF Webers, upgrade from a bocsh screamer kit to whatever, and use stock cam, and the other internals.Reason for this is Im on a budget so, bolt on power would be best and plus I wont need to tear the motor fully down for this since it will be my daily driver.

Im thinking of upgrading my carberators, and was wondering what would be best for a 1600cc.Everything is stock except header and muffler.Any sugestions guys?I was thinking maybe 40IDF's or Kadron 44's, what you guys think?

anyone know if the Scat 47mm single barrel dual carbs would work on a mostly stock 1600cc?

a friend of mine races (a '65 i think) completely stock, apart from 2 single bore Kadrons, a Kadron exhaust system (its actually crappy and discontinued) and the latest addition was a set of 1.4:1 rockers along with shortened pushrods.
The kadron muffler is similar style to the glasspack, but the header is one of the worst from a flow point of view. Considering the lightened weight and short ratio gear box it accelerates really well and has no hesitation if u hold the throttle around mid range and floor it suddenly while cruising (it is still street legal). it gave the feeling of accelerating a bit slower than my 1776 in a 1303 with a 1300 gearbox and full interior etc. we never went head to head. you really need to rev it hard thought...
