Well...Uhm...New Wheels. PICS!
I don't know what to say.
For those of you following the progress of my car...You probably saw it coming. I've described it as everything from "retro-german-look" to "If James Bond were given a car and all they had left was a beetle" Now I've got these wheels. It's official. I have created: RETRO_GERM!!!! Now see the wheels: http://www.vosaclub.org/uploads/DSC01257.jpg They are vintage American Racing "Lemans" wheels. Also seen them described as "Libre" , but I believe this is erroneous though they are very similar. They are 15"x6" w/ a 4x130pcd and weigh an estimated 16 pounds? here's the car for those of you who don't know it: http://www.vosaclub.org/uploads/fullfrontalshot.jpg talbot mirrors, filled in rear vents (behind the windows), hood latches, GT steering wheel, no bumpers (smoothed/filled fenders in rear), removable rear apron, new zero mile engine sporting a few racy mods and a 40idf weber w/ dual exhaust. Lowered top line struts w/ tapered springs and lowered (adjusted) rear, chrome wire mesh headlight grilles and blue dot tri-bar headlights running H-4's. |

Ah, damn man, you stole my concept! I thought that I could phrase the term with my own car, but since I am a slow builder you got there first. I like your approach, very cool.
I was thinking along the same lines, if Tony Curtis drove a bug in The Persuaders, how would it look? So I'm going for aluminum mag wheels, vinyl interior, period gauges etc. But it'll be a while until then...

need some bits.+
Anyone have a lead on where to get some 14mmx1.5 mag shank lug BOLTS.??
I've got 8 of the originals and got a lead on some plastic replica center caps (blanks) I only have two originals of those. I know some people that can get me some more "used" lug bolts of that style. Just wondering if anyone has them "new". |

Well, here's the deal.
Problem one:
Finding the correct bolt. Summit doesn't seem to have what I need. (See pic) http://www.vosaclub.org/uploads/DSC01936.jpg "Mag Shank" stylelug BOLTS not nuts and not the modern conical style. As for how they'll look on the car... I found a pic or two on the samba's gallery section: http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/284563.jpg http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/222426.jpg I don't know what size his are, but I do know that mine will probably be Really really close to the edge of the fender lip. His is a standard and mine is a 1303. Just won't know for sure 'til they are fitted , but looks like it'll be a good fit. |
