You mean track, I think it's going to be just a tiny bit wider than UBRDUB out back, so 3+" per side, may just fit. But to get it as low as UBRDUB out front and not rub on hard turning I'm expecting to have to modify the fender lip substantially, so probably have to go 3"+ compared to the 2.5" on UBRDUB. I really don't want to sacrifice the low-fat look too much if I can help it.

Yes but both of them have used 03's. With the Oval is going to be a lot more difficult. Have you consider using a 03 or a 02? I think that it will be easier for you. Not to mention that the ovals are a lot more valuable at the moment.

I just don't like the look of Supers, as we call them, at all. It will be more difficult, but worth the work I think. I got the Oval for a good price and it's not in great shape, I don't feel terrible cutting it up.

Boxster is at the body shop right now, just needed to confirm that there wasn't any chassis damage before I start. The word so far is that it is all within spec.

I like to look at others Supers, especially yours with the power and the wheels, but as a shape I can only get really into the older style! The main thing is that I don't like bumpers, and old bugs look great without bumpers to me, but supers without bumpers look odd IMO.

Oval Bugster

Love this project.

If I where to start a GL project again from scratch this would be the route I would be taking, oval beetle/ porsche underneath, ultimate wolf in sheep's clothing .

Sweeeeet !

I have seen Boxsters with 996 turbo engine conversions. I think it sounds easier!!!

Car is back from the body shop, oddly the chassis ended up being in spec, so it was $380 of insurance I guess.

Some more big news, not very sexy, but really hot if you are a Californian car owner. This project is officially registered as a 1957 Bug!!!! For those of you in other parts of the world or country, in California you have to smog(emissions test) every car newer than '72 I believe. So, this car would have had to have been registered as a 2004 Porsche Boxster, having to be smogged every 2 years. Instead it will never get smogged, have lower insurance rates, and is all set for twin turbos!!!

Back to the juicy stuff, the boxster is completely stripped, very close to the deep cuts it will need to allow the bug to fit over it. Pics to come, sorry.

The whole area from the apron to under the dash is gone from the bug.

Today a set of KW V3 coilovers arrived so I can start to set up ride height.

Good to see you Panel, does this get your juices flowing?!!!

Sounds like you are getting a run of good luck on the new project!

I would love to do what you are doing to a notch... but my AWD wagon project is all-consuming in time and funds.
