Moog the 228 flywheel with engine can be bolted on a bug gearbox but the bellhouse of the gearbox will have to be opened up a little. If you have a rhino case this will accept the 228mm flywheel very easily.

But why use a 228???
Quote:
I believe Danborn used a 228 and says that the gearbox is paper thin in places. SteveC used a 228 originally and said it needs lots of grinding. He eventually settled on a 215. The 215mm flywheel & clutch fits with no work at all, so this was the most sensible route to me rather than spend time weakening the gearbox. The clutch is strong enough for the power put through it. I assume you use some sort of heater matrix to keep you warm - i used a Polo matrix under the rear seat - what did you use? What about SteveC, or don't you need heating in Oz ? Cheers Moog p.s. anyone think we should make our own WasserBugs stickers...

Hi, well the engine is a 2.1 DJ with a W120 cam and ported heads... The injection is Megasquirt, with Audi A4T (Bosch 150 280 447 injectors 241cc) VW fuel pump, modified AUDI A4T fuel rail with 3 bar fuel reg. and finally custom plenum.... I love heat so I also use the Polo heater I just mounted it up front where the rad. from an Alfa 33 it is sitting in place of the spare wheel,
The gearbox is from a Thing or vw 181, with LSD… Breaks is disc all around with Porsche 4 pots in front and Golf GTI callipers in the back… I have some more pics here: Shoptalk Jesper |

Hi
We need heat sometimes down here. I used a Toyota Troop Carrier rear seat heater under my back seat, it blew into the stock heater channels, a good way to keep the heater channels dry. I also used the cable for the rear seat heater flap to operate my heater tap. Steve
