'70 Ignition switch help

The ignition switch I have does not fit in the steering column I have.

This is the switch:

The switch appears to be too long. There is not enough room in the column for the connector.

I checked the CIP1 site, and they have a 2 part ignition; an electrical part and a 'mechanical' part with the keys.

Is that the one I need ? Can anybody with a '70 confirm this ? Or do I have the wrong steering column ?

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi

As far as I can remember the 70 model didn't have a push on connector, the wires went back all the way back to the fuse box. I'm pretty sure the connector like the one in your photo was only on later cars.

It is for a later one (like Steve said)

The column is out of my '70 right now if you need pix of the correct one. But, I would go with the later column if you can.
