Boxster wheels
Greetings all. Time to kick this site awake.
So, I've spent years collecting wheels for my '74 1303, all 15s. I have a set 15x5.5 steel wheels that used to be Porsche 944 space saver spares, a set of the red allow space saver spares, also 15x5.5, and I have a set of 15x6 phone dials. I like 15s on on a Beetle. Obviously, based upon my wheel collection, I have 5x130 pcd. That said, I'm building my car for autocross (combo street/autocross) and the only class I can run in with my mods, and NOT be thrown in with the big dogs is a street tire class. In this class, the tires must be 200 tread wear rating or above....so high performance or ultra high performance summer tires. I have discovered there are very few options for this type of tire in 15 inch. However, if I go to 16 inch wheels, there are 25-30 different tires available in the sizes I could use. Thus, I am in the hunt for 16s. It was one thing to put my 15 inch wheels sets together over time, one wheel here, one wheel there. Now, however, I need to get 4 wheels reasonably quickly. For me to buy 4 at once, they need to be reasonably affordable. After scouring various pages, I've found my best option, price-wise, is the 16x6 Boxster 5 split spoke wheels available as Boxster FRONT wheels from 1998-2004. It appears most Boxster folks upgrade away from these wheels or go wider. Whatever it is, they're seems to be many available. So, all that for my question. Will these wheels fit on my '74 Super? I would use 4 16x6s. They are ET52. I run my car lowered about 2.5 inches and I have coilovers with 2.5 diameter springs. I did look through several threads on here about offset and other things, but it's just easier to hear from people with real world experience. Thanks in advance H2OSB
