Nürburgring + DasDragDay meet 2009

As Pete so wisely pointed out to me that it was better to post this here, I am happy to oblige

Like last year, one day prior to the DasDragDay weekend at Bitburg (Germany), a few of us from the Netherlands will be visiting the Nürburgring for a spin (or two) around this famous track.
Friday before the Bitburg weekend (which is only about 70 km's further) the Ring opens at 14:15h according to the official website schedule for Touristenfahren (tourist runs).

Any (fast) aircooled VW's are welcome to join us. Let us know if you are coming here and eventually with what car/set-up

Impressions from last year of my bug:

DDD 2008:

BTW, the 9FF porsche (appr. 1000 hp according to the owner) ran a 10,25 sec 1/4 mile on (very low air psi, semi-slick) street tires....
He did leave broken on a trailer unfortunately.

Pete said he'd come over and I promised him a shotgun ride in my bug (on low boost, we don't get crazy and risk crashing) around the Ring if he really showed...

Don't go Pete !!!

If you do, you'll get an addiction for reliable type 4 turbo power while you're there, and will want the same when you get back !!!

All kidding aside, I'd love to go to a show like Hannover

Yeah, I agree with Dirk: Spa-francorchamp is/was usually the one where a lot of german-style cars came to, as well as the usual rat/resto/cal and other weird cultures you can always spot .
'Lebug show', as its officially called, is back on the Spa-froncorchamp circuit now and never had a full 1/4 mile dragrace before, just a 150-200 meter sprint as a sort of demonstration run (imo), also because the track is not straight, but runs up-hill somewhat. That may also be why it was never a purely cal-look event either.
I have high expectations of this year though as now there will be a full 1/4 mile dragrace!
Spa-francorchamp is a great venue and I can fully support the advise to visit this one if you could only do one show in europe.

BTT: Very cool that you will come to our little 'meet' at the Ring Dirk!

I will try to be there again this year. Unfortunately, there might be another event where I do have to stay that weekend, but I am really looking forward in making some more laps on the Ring. Last year it was one of the most exciting weekends of 2008!! Will try to be there with better brakes and a 1955cc turbo type1 this time...

Good news! I CAN make it to the Ring at 18th september!

Planning for me is to stay over at a local camping (I emailed Pete which one) and stay there to do some more laps on saturday afternoon (Touristenfahrt is open from 13:30-19:30 on saturday). I'll skip Bitburg myself, but most other travel further to Bitburg friday evening.

Let me know if you can make it Pete, the co-pilot seat is still available for you, but I need to know your weight in advance for suspension set-up reasons...

Have fun Wally. It's too late to take the days off for a overseas trip. We'll have to get together in 2010.

Pete

Really sorry to hear that. Feel bad about it, even though I couldn't help the mix up in plans as I told you...
Well, the bug will be even a little faster next year and have a roll-cage, so when it happens, it will be even better

Just got word from Armin Klein that he will be there as well with his turbo type 4 Käfer!
As will at least 2 more other (german style) bugs from the Netehrlands.
