GT3 brakes

Some pics of my new brake setup I'm installing.

brake specs: Porsche 996 GT3 GenII (260kw) discs and calipers (this version has 6-pot calipers instead of 4-pot in the front)

Turned down bug wheel hub on type 1 spindle

and redrilled for porsche wheels

the front disc, 350mm and 34mm thick vented and drilled

Figuring out the adaptor brackets. With these calipers I could not use my CB dropped spindles because the attachment fot the steering rack would not clear them.

had the bracket made up and we made sure it would be plenty strong.

Front is completed, wheels are 18" Le Mans (any smaller will not clear the brakes.

Will post pics of the rear brakes when I have all the parts and some more time to work on it

Couldn't say really. bought a set of older porsche brakes that were already mounted on a super an it had these bug hubs mounted to its discs.

front wheels are 8.5x18 and have 225/35/18 tires
rear wheels are 10x18 and have 265/35/18 tires

Rear GT3 discs are mounted now but still need to make a braket for the rear calipers

I've posted the measurements for the brackets on there but someone must have deleted them.
Still got the rear measurements if you like.

Should have the rear brackets completed some time next week to assemble evertything. Just installed a Porsche 944 master cylinder also and now just need some new copper brake lines and a new stop light sensor and we are done.
will update pics asap.

Hi

That looks so good.

You mentioned using cooper brake lines. I'm not sure about where you live but they are not allowed for street use where I live, apparently the cooper can work harden and become brittle.

I live in Belgium and as far as I know all hard brake lines in cars over here are copper, they do not rust through like steal ones.

Cupronickel is a better option (Copper 90%/ Nickel 10%), it is more durable and does not appear to suffer the corrosive effects of salt etc. Its marginally harder to bend than copper but thats no bad thing. Most built up systems use this material in the UK and the ONLY time you get steel lines is when you get the OEM ones from the dealers.

Crazy brake setup you have there. Do you track race the car?

Nice wheels, they look familiar.

I still have to get it repainted after a body of resto that took almost 2 years and the plan is to drag race it occasionally and maybe get it on the Zolder or Spa Francorchamps race track on driver days but mostly to scare M3 drivers on a dry day
