Oval Ragster

I really never saw this coming, but I'm starting a new build thread!!!

So, here's where we are at:

2004 Boxster S 85k miles purchased
Cutting out dented panels and generally cleaning stuff up and see what I have to work with.
Have made contact with a guy in Oregon who will sell me a '57 Oval Rag body and some later doors that I'll be fileting within an inch of it's life. Take heart that this body has already been stitched together at some point, so I'm not cutting up a complete car.

Here's some of the damage:

Some motivational reference:

The one with the red decklid is the one I've got my eye on, I'll be replacing all sheetmetal with fiberglass from CCC.

That is awesome!
Extremely cool build and that 'motivational picture' indeed is. (not sure on the grammer of that tho)

Are you grafting the oval to the boxster body, or building up a bug with boxster parts?

Yep, grafting. I had orginally planned on making it a bolt on affair, not wanting to cut up the Oval too much, but the dimensions of the Boxster make that impossible, some of the suspension pick-up points are right in the middle of body areas.

The only way I could dodge the cutting would be to build a tube chassis with the Boxster components attached, but I'm just not up for building a whole chassis right now. Maybe later? What would someone spend for a tube chassis a bug body could be bolted to that has Boxster running gear? Any how many of those crazy people exist?

No idea, it just showed up under the German Look Tuning section, the poster didn't know where it came from either...

Good find Gerrelt!
I very much love that style as it is indeed based upon Humble's picture which is a car with emphesis purely on function.
