Anyone have a cool set of wide-5 wheels for sale?

Hey guys

Anyone local (southern Ontario) have anything in the way of neat aftermarket wheels in the 5 on 205 mm PCD that they want to sell? Something that will fit under stock fenders ... please send me a p.m. if you have a set available. Looking for something reasonably priced to run for this summer, until I decide on what I want for sure.

BTW, my 73 is sold, I'll be getting a pretty decent 67 this weekend.

thanks,
Ed N.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you Ed. I come across 4x130 wheels almost weekly it seems. But 5x205 stuff isn't NEAR as common to be found floating around. Give us some details on the new ride! 67's are a very cool year! What are your plans for it?

Great news ED. Didn't take you very long to get back into an aircooler.

Did the past weekend have anything to do with it?

Not much out there in wide 5. Good luck in your search.

Greg, it is Steve's car up in Brampton that I am buying ... he had mentioned wanting a car in Waterdown, but I didn't connect that with you, dumbass that I am. You're welcome ...

Pete, last weekend did provide some motivation, that was part of the reason why I wanted to check out that show. It worked out well that Lanner told me about Steve's car coming up for sale before it was advertised, I believe it would have gone pretty quickly.

I figured that used 205 mm wheels would be scarce, I'll keep an eye out on the Samba for something. Greg, thanks for the p.m., I've looked at what CIP has to offer, there are some nice ones there. Have to decide what sort of look I'm after with the car.

cheers

Alex, I'll just roll the way it is for now, pretty much a stocker that has been lowered. Wheels and tires and some minor cosmetic stuff are my only short-term plans. Eventually I'd like to get a bit more HP in it, we'll see what happens.

Will post some pics up next week.

cheers

Thanks for the heads up Alex. Those look like a good deal if they're not bent, but I think that I'm after a different style than a Fuchs replica. Not that I don't like them, just trying to get something not as common. Right now on the Samba a guy has a new set of 15" Randars that I will probably go to have a look at. I was getting ready to order some Mooneyes Speedmasters through my brother, but the Randars would be cool too I think.

cheers

Personally I'd go Speedmasters, but I certainly see the appeal to the Randars. Did I say I liked the Speedmasters?

Alex, I think you're the only local person I've talked to that would take those over all of the other choices.

Looking at the $$, the guy is asking $800 for the set of Randars. The Speedmasters would cost around $1100 CAN by the time I got them in my hands. But the thing I don't like about the cast finish version is the colour of them ... I'd prefer them to be a darker grey, like the American Racing "Salt Flat" wheel which is a similar style to the Speedmaster. I could obviously get them painted, but then I'm in to more money again.

I'll go take a look at the Randars anyway, and go from there. I tend to agonize for at least 2 months when I'm choosing new wheels & tires for my cars ... I'm very particular about getting the "look" that I'm after. At least 75% of the coolness of the car is about the stance, and the wheel & tire combo. I have a set of redline portawalls that I think would look really cool with the Randars, sort of a late 60s "Hot Wheels" style.

cheers

Well, I finally made a decision, picked up the Randars for $750 with the lug hardware. Ordered the tires yesterday, going to try 185/55R15 front and 205/65R15 rear. Here they are, tires shown were not part of the deal (wrong size) ...

These are going to look sweet on the 67 I think.

cheers

Ended up getting 165/60R15 and 205/65R15, the Continentals in the 165 size came off backorder just in time. Got one of the rears mounted up today, I wanted to make sure that the redline portawalls were going to bead up OK. On the 165s I will have to trim down the small rim protector that is moulded in to the bead, but that's not a big deal.

Gives a very late 60s "Hot Wheels" look with the redlines I think, these are going to look sweet on the 67.

The black portions of the wheels I may repaint in a dark grey metallic for a bit different look.

cheers
