18 inch wheels on 72 super?

i have a set of 18 inch tsw trophys with 225/40/18 tires on them that i would like to fit to my super. The back of the wheel says et40 on them but i am not sure what this means. I really want Top Lines maxx struts but till they are in the budget i am going to use a set of 98 civic coils. My car is lowered about 2.5 inches by moving the spring perches down also. i hope it is not to low for 18 inch wheels. If any body has an info on the set up that i am going to try please let me know. Also going to have my drums redrilled for the 5x100 pattern for the wheels

I have heard several people say that Top Line's MaXX are the best if you have the budget, but using Honda coils, do you know what specific year, model and how they are mounted? To use the 98 coils for the struts, how do you do that?

Do you just install the springs or have to use the Honda spring caps, etc?

Thanks in advance,

Signed,

On a budget

i emailed vdubcustoms about thier kit and have heard nothing from them i asked if they sold just the spring pearches and the rubber spring pads for people that have the honda coils already. I just started working on getting the springs on a set of struts and will post when i find out what parts work best i am also working on useing coils from a first gen mazda rx7. But so far by just putting the honda spring on the stock spring perch i think they will be just fine after i get the upper mount figured out so i can bolt them together.

I checked out their web site and have spoke to Lanner Kahn personally a while back. Now they seem to have a kit for $160 Can that includes the springs and both caps, including the top cap. Sounds like a deal, but before I make my decision, I will await your findings.

Thanks
Rick

well i finally got a response back from vdubcustoms but all they said was they think 98 civic coils are wider than older ones and have a stiffer spring rate and they didn't recommend i use them but i already had the car apart again and had them half way installed so i went ahead and put them on. well they are definatly stiffer.....as in almost no suspension travel at all. i think i will just order thier kit and call it done.

yes 18 x 7 wheels will fit. You will not need to use a spacer, but will definitely need a narrow strut.

Seeing as you are lowered 2.5", you will probably need to run a 215/35/18 or 205/40/18 (if they make this size).

Any thing wider or taller will probably rub.
