easy caliper up grade

Hi
Discovered something interesting on the weekend. I have a set of Kerscher disc brakes for the front (ventillated) and rear. I was worried that the front calipers would not hold up under heavy braking. So I fit a (friends) set of 944 turbo rear calipers over them. Perfect fit. I also happened to have a set of CB performance drop spindles kicking around. These had already been machined to accept the Porsche calipers. Again a perfect fit. No need for any adapters. Only a thin spacer will be needed to center the Porsche 944T caliper over the Kerscher disc. Sweet. I can buy my own set of used calipers from a local Porsche shop for 250.00 Cdn. Of course they will need to powder coated red to match the car

Thumbs up

I told you....this is the easiest conversion...only a little machining required on the spindle but I know yours have been done already.:hehehe:

This requires 16" wheels for clearance, right?

Hi Steve
Can't say about it clearing the 16's. I'm running 17's and there plenty of room. Just as an aside note. I'm getting my engine from Oliver this winter. Can't wait to see it, even more to hear it running. My floor pan is pretty much ready for the suspension (some of which is coming from Germany) and tranny (already here). Getting the body work done is another matter all together. Guess I'll have to start waving some of the green stuff around. Still hope to be driving the car in the fall of 2003. I just gotta quit changing things :silly: Back to your question. Alex may know if the calipers will fit inside the 16's.

It will fit inside 16s for sure.....not sure if it will fit inside a 15" rim though.

Beware because ONLY rear calipers will work with Kerscher rotors as the Porsche fronts accept 28mm thick rotors min.

I'm running Kerscher disc with 944 turbo rear calipers. It’s a close fit but wit a slight offset it will fit inside a 15" Fuchs

That is what I needed to hear Jepser! I'm going to go with Gas Burners so hopefully they'll clear as well as the forged Fuchs.
