Question spindle/ spacer question.

This might sound like a silly question.
In the brake galleries there are pictures of an unmodified 944 turbo hub on a CB-Performance dropped spindle with bearing spacers. Is there any differance in a turbo hub from a NA hub. If I get bearing spacers made for stock spindles will the porsche hub fit. Is the stock spindle not long enough and that is why the CB- Performance spindle is used. I already have two 1987 944-S front hubs with good crossdrilled rotors and calipers. I was thinking of having a local machine shop make some bearing spacers for me but I want to make sure it will work first. Thanks in advance.

If you go to the main site you should check out the Porsche brake conversion articles.

All require a spacer of some sort unless you want to buy a custom hub. Some conversions machine the hub to get rid off the track increase or do put a spacer in the hub to use the smaller VW bearing.

I was thinking about using bearing spacers on stock spindles so I can run my un-modified 944 hubs. Then I would spot face the spindle to mount my caliper adapter for my non turbo calipers. I think this will work and it should cost me less than $200.

I got my idea about not modifing the hub from Sandeep's tech article on 993 turbo front brake upgrade.

It will work. The spacer required are for 944 bearings. You only need to fab a caliper bracket.
