June Meet

What's a good day for everyone?

Tues 12th?
Tues 19th?

Saturday 23rd is VW day at Toronto Motorsport Park-- 1/4 drag
Sunday 24th is the June Jitter Bug--show

Who's going to be rolling in their Vdubs? Should take a group pic, 'cause it's looking like quite a few will be on the road.

Pete

the 19th works best for me. Starting next week i work the evening shift, so i wont be able to make it until the 19th. BUUUUUT my car may not be there, because the motor may be out so i can put my new pro-street tranny in for the drag day. The darn thing is supposed to arrive a week before the drag day!

We'll have to play that one by ear. But either way I agree Pete, that a nice group pic is in order. I'm not much of a photographer, but i'll bring my camera.

Lanner, I'll need a test drive if all goes well over the next couple days. I'll let you know.

Alex, you can get the re/re trans done in a couple days. Don't go to work, call in sick.

I vote for the 19th ... it will give me time to make sure the car is 100% drivable.

I'd love to crash the H2O meet but I'll be there with my brother in his A6 2.7T. I have a 7.2 MP camera and mini DV camcorder .... I'll bring them with me to the meet and can burn a DVD with my laptop. Where are we meeting up and at what time ?

I'm really looking forward to this summer !! except it is already here and the bug is still in the garage !!!

We did springfling today. Pretty crazy. We had 7(?) cars rolling, which is very nice. Thanks for all those who came out, and for those who didn't, you missed this:

June jigger bug is the next big one, make sure you can make it. No excuses.

Sorry Lanner, looks like a good time.

I got the motor tranny back in, fired it up and drove around the block last night. The engine is falling on it's face at 1400rpm with a little throttle. Like turning it off. I can rev it higher if i just touch the pedal.

Gonna drain the gas(since November) tommorrow, and put some fresh stuff in.

So close, yet so far.

You guys have any ideas?

Looked like a good time ... thanks for the pics. My little guy had a fever so I had to stay home with him. I got some work done on the bug while he was sleeping though

Filled the gearbox with swepco 201, and am programming the megasquirt with new values. Hope to fire it up on Wednesday !

I'll be at the drag day on June 23rd as well .. not to sure how the 901 will handle drag racing though

Pete ... drain the gas ... have you checked the idle jets ? You're working with carbs now !

Checked the idle jets to make sure they were all the same. I'll pull them again and blow them out.

Well they switch the shifts around for me at work, so i'm only working until 8 now. So the 12 OR the 19th work for me, my car definitly wont make it on the 19th if thats what we go with. (pullin the motor and tranny..)

And Pete, I can help you out with your car if you want. We'll have to figure out a time. the next few weeks are a bit nuts. This saturday Chris (chug a bug) and I are pulling his motor to reset the endplay, and do a little more tuning. If your intersted we'll figure something out.

Thanks Alex, i'll let you know,

Spent some more time on it today before going to work. Thinking it might have been the stock SVDA dizzy, i borrowed a 009 with Pertronix and coil from Greg and swapped it in. Fired it up, no difference.

Went to the local Staples and bought the compressed air in a can for blowing out keyboards and stuff. This air in a can is expensive , didn't want to blow out the jets with the air compressor as i don't regularly drain it.

Pulled the mains and emulsion tubes and blew them out. To pull the idle jets the stacks and linkage plates need to come off. So while pulling them i dropped a washer down the carb! There it sat on the butterfly, no problem. Grab the magnet and nothing. Damn...stainless washer So with a small screwdriver, coat hanger, and some profanity i got it out. Blew out the idles, and reinstalled. Ran out of time, had to leave for work, so fired it up and it sounded different and a little better revving. I hope after the blowing of the other idles in the morning, it should be good. *fingerscrossed*

After almost 6weeks, and 4 engine pulls, i'm thinking: so much for tossing in the stocker, driving it, to work on the split.

Need to make mention of Greg over at tunedperfection.com for helping me out over the past while. He's provided me with exceptional service and parts. Always going out of his way to do whatever he can. From overnighting parts, to the latenight pickups. Always, just one more part away, from driving it. Can't say enough about him.

19th

They super may not be there.... I've given up on trying to get the carbs to work. So today, expedited$$ them down to Art Tharen at aircooledengineering for a rebuild and setup. Hopefully i get them back for the drag/show weekend. If i don't get them back in time, or they don't work, i'll seriously consider liquidating all my ACVW stuff. I'm at my wits end.
