Which tranny is easiest swap
I was wandering which tranny swap is the easiest/best for the effort. I have looked at the Pro Street tranny from GEX. Has anyone used one of these before? If you guys have any input I would be quite grateful. Thanks, V3

Stay away from GEX!
Call up Rancho, they stand behind their products. |

from the title of your thread I had assumed that you were looking for
a tranny swap and not just another VW tranny...? Generally a swap would refer to removing a tranny from another vehicle and replacing it into your car. If thats what you mean, then the easiest of all tranny swaps, would the the Porsche 901 tranny. If you are looing for an ungraded T1 tranny, buy one from Rancho, KCR, or LoCash Racing

Tranny swap
I did mean a swap, sorry . I am curious as to what model the 901 is though. I have seen the number several times and was not sure which Porsche that is. If I can't find a 901 tranny for a reasonable price, should I look into a hyped up type one or just keep looking for a 901? I also was curious if it would be better for someone with a daily driver to just stay with the type 1 for the minimum time down? Thanks for the help folks, Ryan.

a bit more info is needed.
perhaps a bit information about your ride would help to better understand your intended application.

Tranny questions
As of right now my 73 Super is my dd. I has a stock 1600 Dp in it at the moment. I am looking to build a motor to about 120-150 hp. I would like to have a clean shifting tranny that will be able to grow with the hp if I decide when if I have the budget to increase the engine displacement our swap a different engine altogether. I am thinking that I will eventually go the type 4 route as it seems to be a fine powerplant for our cars. How much fabrication does it take to fit the 901? I read the tech article and am not positive that I can do that any time soon. Would it be worth the time and money to get a rancho built type 1 unit till I can stop using my car as my daily driver? Or should I take a look at a bus tranny? I have heard that they are beefier than the type 1's. On a side note I plan to do the 944 brake thing at some point and was wondering how hp you guys would reccommend shooting for to balance out the unsprung weight that I'll be picking up over the Topline kit that I have now. Thanks, Ryan
