944T Rear Brembos on an 84NA hub/disk

I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't use a 944T 94mm bolt spaced rear caliper with the earlier NA disk and hub, but I can't find it.

Do you need to run 944T disks on the early NA hubs to make use of the 944T caliper? Everything bolts up fine as is.

Any pointers much appreciated.

Thanks

The disk width's do not match. The 944T rear caliper works with a 24mm wide disk, while the 944NA front rotor is 20.4mm wide. Your best bet is to use a Boxster front rotor (24mm) with the 944T rear caliper.

Boxter front Rotors?

Lanner,

You wouldn't happen to know if this will mess around with the offset will it? Any idea what the part number is of the boxter caliper, or which model / year I should be asking for?

Thanks a lot

Steve

The hubs have to match the rotor. So, with the early hubs you can only do the early NA rotors. The 86T front rotor (28mm)will bolt to the early NA hubs, but because of the offset difference on the hubs, the rotor will be way too far inboard and will foul on the steering arm of the spindle.

Why not just keep it all the same (ie Turbo front rotor with turbo front caliper and matching hub)?

The other option is late 944 hub (87+) with boxster (1st gen) rotor and 944/993 rear T caliper in the front.

I should have specified this is for the rear of the car, not the front.

The fronts are all 944T with Lanners kit. Its just the rears that use the 944NA hub, and I want to use the 944T rear calipers to have the same look 4 pot calipers all round.

Cheers

Lanner,

Can you tell us if we should be getting the Boxster S disk with a 67mm height or a 70mm height?

Thanks

Hey
Guys
I am currently running Boxter S rear discs 964 2 pots in the rear
Am also using Lanners spacers

Oh this is on a 64 swing axle bug.
Needs slightly more than the 3mm though. But works great
Using 944 MC outlets are reversed. Rears are fed off the front port and fronts off the rear port.

I have easily and successfully added 944T/928S4 calipers to 944/924S N/A arms with 944/924S discs(rotors). The disc thickness is less than ideal but periodic monitoring will ensure that the pads don't wear down too far to pop the pistons. I anticipate fitting 299x24x71 944T/928S4 discs when the pads wear down that should comfortably correct the disc thickness issue. I also expect some shimming to still be required to centre the disc.

The rear ports (closest to the pedal i.e.23mm dia) should feed the front brakes regardless. The front ports i.e. the 19mm dia feeds the rear brakes.
