5 speed

I need to start thinking about a 5 speed trans, but I have no clue where to start.
I've read about Porsche transmissions, Bus transmissions, Berg 5 speeds, Rancho Transmissions, you name it.

So, in your opinion, what is the best (and most economical) way to go ?
The trans should be able to live in front of a 165HP Subaru motor. No 5K clutchdrops, but it should be able to take a decent pounding....

Enlighten me !

Rob

Porsche trans of course IMO. By the time you build-up a T1 tranny with Berg 5 speed kit, and add super diff and the other goodies. A (used) stock 901, 914, or 915 is about the same price. Going 5 speed is not really econo, compared to a built T1 4 speed with right gearing.

$800 for the gearbox ... thats it. The 901 is the original gearbox for the T4 I have so no issues with flywheel clutch.
