limited slip diffs 901?

Does the 901 have a limited slip differential? and if I opt to stay with a type 1 transmission is a 944 lsd compatible with the type 1 IRS? My understanding of the LSD Differential is that it would give a driver an extreme advantage.
thanks
Wolf.

Some 901 trans came with the LSD but are rare and expensive (hoarded by 911 racers). I don't think the 944 LSD will fit in a type 1 trans, don't know if anyone has ever tried.....

A 944 LSD will not fit any VW trans. Why not just install a stock VW LSD?

Limited Slips

The one that I am saving up for is the Guard GT torque-biasing limited slip.
It is similar (copy?) to the Quaife unit but is now 2 pounds lighter. It sells for under $1,000. USD. Their phone number is (888) 894-3277 or for those overseas it is (530) 878-4499 and ask for Paul Guard. I do not think they have a website. Like all things automotive it seems, some people will only use a Quaife, some only a ZF, some like the Guard. I have several friends now running Guards in autocross and street 911's and all like the change.

If enough people were interested, maybe we could put together a group buy for about 20-25% off list.

Thanks,

Randy

Quaife LSD's

If anyone's looking at buying a Quafie LSD in U.S.... stop for a minute and look at how much they are in UK.
Quaife are based in UK and therefore we get them cheaper!! If I'm in the UK and have time, I don't mind helping out a fellow VWer

Hey Randy where is Guard located, because that phone number looks like a Auburn, CA number?

location, location, location...

I do not know where Guard is based. I have talked to Paul, but never asked where he is located. His ads do not list an address.

As to the 901 Quaife from the UK, what prices do you guys get over there?

Thanks,

Randy

I think the last time I enquired as to buying 10 units, the price was 6-700 (pounds sterling) or something. It was a year ago or so when a buddy of mine in the US was thinking of buying some for stock but then realised his US supplier would report back to Quaife in UK!
