Wiper blades update
I really like the idea of the resto-germanlook or vintage germanlook. No changes to the outside stock body and trim, but the standard germanlook updates and upgrades to the suspension, brakes, and engine, etc. I like the look of the original wipers yet they barely move any rain off the windshield. So I decided to have the best off the both worlds. I retrofitted some up to date wiper blades to fit the original wiper arms. In the sunshine and at shows I use the original wiper blades, with the slightest chance of rain I switch to the modern wiper blades.
First I removed the center hinge post found on most modern wiper blades A hack saw was sufficient and quick Then I removed the mounting bracket used on the original wiper blades The wiper mounting bracket is what you want to attach to the modern wiper blade Use a screw to attached the original wiper blade mounting bracket to the modern wiper blade. This makes things quick and easy when its time for new blades. Cut off the hinge mounting post then attach the original wiper blade mounting bracket. The pics show some fairly used and very rusty original wiper blades that I got for two dollars at a swap meet. I needed the brackets and I didn't want to hack up a new set of wiper blades. Although I did buy a pair new original wiper blades for show and shine, they should last an extremely long time cause they never get wet. Later I will find a new black top screw and give the bracket two coats of black satin paint. Now with a few turns of a Phillip head screwdriver I can switch to modern wiper blades. As expected there is a very big difference in the performance of the blades. A easy project and worth it for those who drive there vintage vw's. (in the rain )

Love it, I've been trying to figure out a way to make the new style blade wipers work, but if all else fails I'll be copying you!

Tony, good to see you back on here and back at it. Keep us posted. Hope to see you around some of the shows this year...at least I am hoping to make a few. You should also check out the GT show coming up in the spring. Always a good show with a good mix of cars. Not sure if my ride will make it, but I plan to.
Keep posting your progress.

Amazing work on the floor panels and front suspension!
All the mods are amazing! I would just choose some porsche OEM rims but those DaVinci´s are quite nice too!

One question, short update and more pics
Question ---The question is do I keep the red detail on wheels? Interior is going to be black and red thought red detail on wheels would go good overall.
Update---- Rear fenders and running boards painted and install. All new brake components installed to go with new front and rear disc brake kits brake lines, master cynlinder and brake fluid reservoir. Body to pan seal installed and pan now completly bolted down. Transmission still sitting in the garage and engine in the hands of steve sands. After headliner then welding in torque bar mounting tabs. Next on the to do list install sound deadner and send car out to have headliner done. More pics---

I would keep the red accent... helps carry the overall red and black theme.

Red accents will stay, Eagle Performance and more pics
First off I would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Blue for all her love and support I dont think she realizes how much help she has been.
I have decided to keep the red accents for the time being. Next on the install list is the coil over conversion kit that I received for Eagle Performance http://www.eagleperformance.com/CoilOverKits.html. I have researched many different kits over the years and finally decided on the Eagle Perfomance Kit. There are more expensive kits out there and ofcourse there are cheaper kits out there, but anyone doing a coil over conversion should definitely check out the Eagle Performance Kit. A friend of mines has a cheaper version without the offset and he just can't seem to get his toe alignment correct, and I have also seen the versions offered without the load boss and I wouldnt feel safe doing any spirited driving with those kits. Started the install a couple of days ago and had a small clearance issue. Gave a call to Eagle and the problem was solved immediately. Will post later with some install details and pics. I have also made a minor change to the headlight buckets by painting the interior of the the buckets to match the body. Before and after pics
