944 single pot brake pad ??

I have a problem with my new pads. My new front and back pads don't want to fit with the new rotors. What is the thickness of the pad supposed to be when new?
the new ones I have are all 3/4" thick.
No problem fitting the old pads in, they measure about 9/16" thick. The old pads weren't worn out just a mis matched set.

And there is no fluid in the system, we just rebuilt everything.

Make sure the pistons are completly seated back into the caliper. Rear brakes usualy require the piston to be depressed and screwed back down.

Everything is empty right now so the pistons aren't a problem.
The picture shows the old set that came with the front brakes. They are a snug fit as it is. I think the pads were fairly new anyways. The rotors are 20mm thick and the gap left by the pads in the picture is only 21mm. Just wondering what I am doing wrong. I haven't found a 944 manual yet to see the procedure, I am just going from the pics I took when I disassembled them .

Just because the caliper does not have fluid does not mean the piston is seated. Did you use a disc brake tool or a large C clamp to press the piston back into the housing?

They were completely diassembled (For powder coating) when I put the piston back in. So it slid in and made a thunk when it hit the bottom

Nobody has a set of early 944NA pads kicking around to measure?

Boy do I feel like a doink
The pistons were stopping on the plastilube that was pushed to the bottom. I put the c-clamp on and gave it a couple turns and it dropped to the bottom of the cyl.
Oh well live and learn.
