Swepco 201 gear lube in the GTA ?

Hi Guys,

I just rebuilt my 901 with a new syncro band and hub for 1st gear. All the other gear components look great so did not mess with them.

Gearbox is back in the car, so where can I get Swepco 201 gear lube in the GTA ?

Thanks

Sandeep

Have you tried Mantis Racing in Oakville?
Maybe the Pfaff dealer?
Why Swepco?

I'm using Shell Helix Synthetic. Very happy with it. Bought from Marranello Ferrari in Woodbridge.

Thanks Guys,

Swepco 201 is supposed to be recommended for 901 gearboxes. I used Castrol Hypoy C 80W90 last year, will try the Swepco 201.

I will give Mark a call.

In Stock.

I'll NEVER use Synthetic in a VW or Porsche gear box.

You may like it but your syncro's don't.

Swepco

I ordered my Swepco through Steve Couldrey, he oftens picks up his supplies from a shop here in Brampton and he delivered to my door. After watching his presentation on Swepco he left several of their other products for me to try.
His contact info is. I found his info on the Upper Canada Porsche site.

Why not?

The Shell Helix "euro spec" is GL5/MT-1 rated.

Synthetics with a GL4, or GL5/MT-1 rating are OK for brass synchros:agree:

I do like my tranny, shifts really smooth, hot/cold, cruising around town or beating the snot out of it at the track.

From my reading, I've surmised that the "balk ring" syncros in a 901 need friction to operate properly. They are the band that is responsible for making sure that complimenrary gears are rotating at the same speed, therefore when engaged, you get a smooth shift .... no grinding.

Synthetics (I've read) are too slippery for this type of syncro in a 901 to operate properly. The brass slider has little to do with proper engagement of gears, as far as I can tell from looking at the guts of my 901 gearbox.

I want to try the Swepco 201 and see what all of the fuss is about.

BTW, my engine parts should be ready to pick up this weekend

Sandeep
