Project "Racelook"

So I thought I can better open an new thread for my bug. I'm restorating/building my 1303 S from 1974

I'm now more than 2,5 years bussy with this resto. This is how it stands now:

At this point the follow things are done:
Chassis:
-Every rust is out. Several pieces of framehead, napoleonhead self made, 2 new floorpans welded in. Two 12mm fuellines installed (what an work was that, but there in). I'm now at the point where I'm bending my 6mm RVS brakelines. (after that the chassis has to be maked clean to bare metal and will be sprayed with paint)
Body:
-Every rust is out (after many, many hours of welding).. maybe there's some little spots left, but they will be welded when I make the body clean to bare metal.
-Race-fuelfiller from Sparco is in. (also lots of work with the home made holder for it)
-After 2 pair of verry crap doors, finally got 2 good doors. Both of the doors are smoothed, so there are no doorhandles anymore. (will be opend eletric)
-The enginelid is changed for an lid of an 1300 (without vents in it). I've started with making an metal scoop on it (almost 3 months ago, but has not finished it).
-The Remmele side-airscoops are "in", everything is prepped for the installation, they only have to be glued in.
-An aluminium is also from the beginning of this project in my property. CAD/CAM drawings for new wing"foots" are ready and waiting to be machined (laser cut).
-An full rollcage is made by our self, more details can be found in this topic:

http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/sho...light=rollcage
-Hole the body is cleaned from inside and outside. Every hook is smoothed, every not functional hole is close.
-Eberspacher heatchanger lays ready
-Kamei-spoiler lays ready
-Engine and gearbox will be for this time only been cleaned and painted.
-Stripping the paint and all the body work has to be done.

I will update this topic as fast as I can.

Greetings Wiebrand

Sweet project Weibrand. Looks like it's coming along. Mine has taken almost 5 years. Good to know I'm not the only one who took the long way round!

So my first update:

This are honestly just pics of about two weeks ago (when I had some time). I've been busy (so I said in above answer) with putting in two fuellines of 12mm (where originally sits 1 of 6mm) in. It was verry verry ****ty work, but hell yeah someone got to do it.

At first an pic on which the holes on the backside are good to see. Also are the tules en the cut out piece verry good to see to get the lines in.

An detailpic.

To really get fuel from the front to the back they have to have an exit on the front.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fo...2005232701.jpg

After thtat both sides where welded close.
-Backside
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fo...2005232741.jpg
-Frontside
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fo...2005232836.jpg

After a lot of "playing" with the Dremel I get this ending result.
-Backside

-Front

I think it looks verry nice, just like off fabrique

Looking good Wiebrand !

I think I might have to get the body off the frame too next year.

What's with the 2CV (Eend), are you fixing that one up too ?

Rob.

The project goes verry slowly. Still damn busy. I have worked on it last sunday (the first time in the last 3 months ). Been welding on the front of the beetle (for the second time). I was not pleased with the welding I did several years ago.

When something is to show I will post.

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

I finally have some pics to post from the works of the last 2,5 months.

The top edge (doule plate) welded new in the fronthood.

The under edge of the front hood welded in new.

Welded in the front panel an welded all the holes closed that I don't need.

Last saturday i was free from work (because of an good party on friday), so I could work on the bug.

At first maked the hoodpins for the front lid on the car.

I had an feeling upfront that the lowest hoodpin wouldn't work, and yes I was right. Because of the curf in the hood this can't work with an hoodpin, so I will solve this on an other way.

I also have mounted several things on the bug (front and rear lid, all the fenders, rear panel and the "step-up bords"). Everything fits good except the step-up-bords this will need some work with poly to get it fit right.

Greetings Wiebrand
