Ever seen this front sway bar setup?
Just to take a look on techniques from Germany, this setup is from my father's shop, done to get exact stabilizing at the point, where it's most needed, also possible as adjustable race bar, more done to get enough place for a big front oil cooler in front of the axle.
Take a look!

neat!! i like that.. ive had problems getting my bugpack HD swaybar to stay well mounted on the trailing arms.. theres no way your bar will work loose! how much would something like that cost to buy? or is it a one off custom job?

very interesting Oliver. I can appreciate anything that has been well engineered. So, in addition to making more room for a front mounted oil cooler, does it work better then a stock setup?

nice set up.
What diameter is the sway bar? Are you selling this as a kit?

We carry them in my fathers shop, price is high, as the unibal-fittings are too expensive, I'm searching for a new supplier. At the mo it's 240,00 Euros for a complete kit, every kit machined for each customer by hand. The diameter is 15mm and it works better than anything else tested (12mm standard, 181 15mm, Eibach 17mm, 19mm Sway-a-way in both directions mounted), great for race applications with more drilled holes to adjust the side length of the bar!

How do I order one for my car?
What information can you give me on ordering one for my car?
I've got a balljoint front end on my VW. What about the rear of the I.R.S. cars? Do you have a new solution for that end as well? Or would we be better off using the 944 rear anti-roll bar setup? Thanks in advance. Kevin J Hale |

Just send a mail to order@powertuningparts.de...
The rear is easy, as you can only use the 944 parts, but use the original mounts from the torsion bar housing, too. Cut them off and weld them in the same position to your beetle housings! I have a mixed conversion with a 19mm sway-a-way bar on my car.

problem with mine (bugpack 3/4" urethane mounts, stainless bolt-up clamps) is that every couple of months or so it works its way loose! you can literally move it by hand! it was better when i ran drilled out stock rubber mounts but i split two of those and had to revert to the urethanes it came with.. i cant bring myself to drill some more rubber ones, it was a real bear the first time!!
im happy with the way mine works, i certainly dont think its TOO stiff like most people seem to reckon they are, but im just not satisfied with the way it mounts.. its a shame no-one makes real rubber mounts to suit the 3/4" bars instead of the urethanes... i HATE urethane.... i think its half the problem..... |

jeez, guess I'd better take a look at mine. It's been on 2 months now and I haven't checked them. I have the exact same setup, urethane bushes, bolt up clamps. I don't think it's too stiff either. I much prefer it to the stock VW one. The car feels much more surefooted with it on...

Does anyone know what the front trailing arms are made of, are they steel or casted? Can they be welded w/o any problems?
