Been Busy Here
Lately I've been making a big push to get my big motor done. Thought you guys may enjoy seeing some of my progress.
Here are some of my chicken scratch notes and recordings: Here is the crank assembled, with the end play set. It's just about ready to be sent out for balancing. I've started to install the rods in order to mock the motor up to check the deck height. The centerline of this case is off by about .003". My pistons have a pin to crown variance of about .005". So I'll be putting the shorter of the four on the high side of the block, and the taller of the four on the short side. All 4 rods measure the same length. I'll be putting a .060" barrel spacer under each cylinder in order to get the deck height to roughly .065". That, combined with my 52cc head chambers should yield me about 9.4-1 static compression (dynamic is about 8.4-1) Here I've put a radius on all of the came lobes. The is to prevent and hard/sharp edges and limit any chipping or fracturing on the brittle edges. Just a little goes a long way. Although this was a relatively new case, abusive driving and a steep cam; the lifter bores needed to be sleeved. I use C95400 Aluminum Bronze. Here is my sketch: And the fresh bushings off of the lathe: Ready to be installed with my specially made install tool: Normally it would be best to use dry ice (-104), or my favorite, liquid nitrogen (-328) and shrink fit them in. But you have to use what you've got, so in the freezer for a day and then pressed in. Installed in the case: Dummy springs being installed in prep for setting up valve train geometry: I can't wait to get this thing going again! Alex

Thanks Sandeep.
As for the balancing, I'll be entrusting: www.dgarlandandsons.ca Although I haven't used them before, I've heard good things from those who have. Alex
