Munched transaxle from Drag Day

Well I pulled the engine and transaxle yesterday and found all the broken stuff. I had a failure on both sides of the diff. The Left inner CV exploded and the Right output shaft sheared at the CV flange.
As Jake would say,,,,,,,SWEET.

It sounds like it's time for the 5-speed.

I launched it at the drag strip,,,,,, well I tried to launch it.
The 5 speed will have to wait till winter, I need to get it back together for mid Aprill so I can go to Bug-A-Pulozza.

Well I spent all day Tuesday at Jakes, took up 2 trans axles 1 that sould have had a 3.88 R&P and a .88 4th and 1 that was unknown. broke both of them down and found 4.12 R&P and .88 4th in boh.(same gears I had). Zen had bought a super dif and HD side cover to do a 3.88/.88 4th trans for the Ghia. I was going to build it and use it untill winter. Come to find out that that would not help his Ghia at all so I will buy the Dif and side cover and we scrounged up a 3.88/.88 4th combo and I built the dif ( after having to put it on a lathe and cut one of the thrust surfaces,,,,,(BugPack part)). Then the side cover had to be machined to the proper bore for the flange seal. Nothing like building up something 4-5 time more than you need to. But I think I have a good HD transaxle now. :agree:

That's so purdy!

If you'd like, I can stress test it in the bus for you... I've been wanting to get some top fuel take off pics .

Pillow,,,,,, nice to see (read) you here. It has been a while. I hope to keep this one in place long enough to get time to fab-up the 901 swap. :agree:
