Is their nosecone needed for 912 901 (as opposed to 914 901) install? If so, why?
Thanks- Craig Backer |

Craig,
don´t know if I understand right, but I explain what I understand the problem is: 912 and old 901 (aluminium cases) have a different position of the upper pivot (hope correct word) than the later 901, 911/01 and 914 gearboxes. That´s the only difference (besides change from aluminium to magnesium) between the nosecones (914 is quite different, but not in positions). Martin Bug @ 5-Speed |

So, is it essential I purchase your nose cone to install my aluminum case 912 into my 69 bug?
This is what I was asking knowing the 914 nose cone has to be swapped. Thanks- CB |

Craig,
my nosecones are about 30 mm shorter than the original ones. If you give up 30 mm in the Beetle to istall a gearbox there´s not enough space left for a normal installation of the engine. With my nosecone the gearbox is positioned just as the type 1 gearbox (measured at the bellhousing). Martin Bug @ 5-Speed |
