Boxster brakes

so has anyone every looked into a brake conversion from Boxster parts? just curious if it can be done in any combination with other parts.

I know MBT does a Boxter conversion using their hubs and their caliper adaptors.

I cannot say to what extent, but I distinctly recall Steve Carter was looking into SOMETHING related to using Boxter brakes (iirc, it was calipers).

I think the main reason that people are not really using Boxster disks and calipers is that if you go thru the hassle of getting everything machined and getting caliper brackets done you might as well go bigger and get 993 or even 993 TT brakes.

Kerscher is selling now their vented front brakes with Boxster calipers for about 1200$ I think. You can see them on their website.

Also it would be easier to use 944 Turbo brakes...since the rear is a near bolt on for IRS and for the front it is easier to make an axial caliper bracket instead of a radial mounting bracket. This does not mean that Boxster calipers are not that good.....there design as a monoblock caliper is much nicer than the 2 piece 994/993/Turbo or TT.

Just reading this post. There is a distinct interest for Boxster brakes from one of the shop owners here. Reason is because with the big 944 turbo brakes, some wheel combo's aren't possible because of the size of the (front) brakes: they hit the rim when installed. This is especially true for 15" Fuchs rims, that the Resto-cal community here preferably uses. It seemed that the boxster brakes are more slim in design. I also think they may use another disc and adapt the boxster brakes to it. Then the 15" Fuchs rim can be used with the nice red porsche brakes behind it.
I don't have any more installation details of it than this, sorry.

good info guys. i found it surprising how inexpensive i have seen some boxster calipers going for on ebay and other places. wasn't sure if the money would end up needing to be spent elsewhere in the conversion. seems so.

Suweet! You can fit Boxster calipers, Kerscher rotors, CB spindles, under 15" wheels? Say it is so please!
