Uprated Torsion Bars?
For the guys doing a lowered car, IRS, is there a need to run larger torsion bars? Got a friend running a lowered fiberglass buggy interested in getting the best possible handling out of it. Lowering dramatically improved the overall handling, but now he's finding the rear end tends to bottom out excessively. He's using much shorter bump-stops, but generic OEM style shocks.
I checked all my VW suspension related literature, but the only suggestions for larger torsion bars was for the off road guys. Said the standard torsion bar is 22mm(?), next smallest size available from SAW is like 25mm and a heck of a lot stiffer! Is there a factory offering between these sizes? Maybe something from a T3 that'll work? I'm thinking just slightly stiffer would be the ticket, maybe with a better quality shock. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Jeff |

type 3 are bigger, and also the 944's had all sorts of sizes.
