G50
Hi everyone a co-woker use to work on Porsche. I told him of m500 0 fanticy of stuffing a Porsche 5speed tiptronic into my keeper. He but fast, downed that ideal, but he said that he had a g50. I'm really having money troubles, so he said I could make payments. That was right up my alley, so I ask for a price, his reply was don't worry about it.
He sent me pictures, looks good, but he still won't commit to a fixed price. Now business is business, I will not buy it even on payments, without a firm price. What do you all think. Lastly, what would be a good price? Ok,I get to add some more questions. I hear there is allot of trans noise from the g50. Is the a fix, I think Steve C said that he had his trans disassembled, and found nothing. Will sound deading help throughout, even the tunnel. How bad it's the noise? Hi
Im not sure what going rate is now for a G50, what type is it? You could call a few Porsche wreckers to see what sort of money they want, you will also need a shifter and rod. My noise issues was that the gearbox was too well mounted and using a non dual mass clutch I agree get a firm price. Steve.

Hi everyone, here is the g50/01 and the 901 0r 902, still can't tell. I see now, how Porsche made their trans better. bigger, stronger, and heavy The 901 is going into this gold 1302. I think I will still use the 2110 type one turbo engine I have for it, if I can just get on track. However, that g50 will be my keeper wow Last edited by effvee; March 3rd 2016 at 20:49. |

G50 Porsche clutches are 240 mm, do some reading on Porsche forums, most people get rid of them and put up with the noise

Hi Walter, question, in all of the g50 mods you had done, are there any you would have changed; if you had it to do again?

Hmm, interesting question. Actually not really.
Maybe I would have grinded the splines less backwards, but I thought I needed to do that for spacing reasons iirc (?). Reason is I was a little worried when I ran dual disks with it (those have a bigger total spline length/depth), but it turned out afterwards that it holded fine the way it was done. One last thing: With enough time and even more effort I still would like to have the trans even more forward in the car, but thats just from the theoretical aspect of gaining even better center of gravity. In reality I have little complaints about the handling, but things can always be improved upon I suppose :-) |

Hey again, correct me if I am wrong, isn't the transmission as forward as physically possible?
I agree with you on having the transmission as forward as possible, and then with me wanting to couple the trans to a ez-30;and keep the deck in its normal position, will offer its hurdles. |

Yeah,you're correct: it is.
Thats why I commented that it would take considerable time and effort to move it even more forward. I meant: cut the torsion tubes and weld in structural support without making it all extremely heavy and negating the effect you just gained... Sorry, I should have been more clear on that ;-) |

I may have to go with my type IV engine, but no cutting the axle tub.
