my 5hp had trouble with my cabinet blaster doing rims. It took forever and if I had it to do over again I would just pay to get it done.

I also have a pressure pot sandblaster that would probably work much faster.

You'll need more then just a "small" sandblaster to fit the front beam in. I've got the small Princess Auto unit, and I can't fit a fan shroud in it. For the hassle of doing one piece, and running all over S.O. I would seriously consider just getting it done at a sandblasting shop. It's been a few years since I lived there, but if you're game for going to Mississauga I can give you the name of a sandblasting shop that's inexpensive (cash deals) and a powdercoating shop that is REALLY inexpensive (cash only). The powder coating shop is for black, white and silver only...unless you don't mind waiting weeks on end for them to do a job with the color you want.

I'm a little rusty on the sandblasting contact...I've done a google street trip from my old office and *think* I've found the right place:

Kingsmill Sandblasting And Spraypainting Inc‎
1062 Westport Crescent, Mississauga, ON L5T 1G1‎ - (905) 848-8669‎

I may be incorrect on the blasting, but I definitely have the powder coating correct.

Colourific Coatings Ltd‎
6850 Davand Drive, Mississauga, ON L5T 1J5‎ - (905) 564-7300‎

Don't go in the front doors, instead drive up the right-side of the building right past whatever trucks and other vehicles are there. The last truck bay at the end of the building has a person door near it. Park near the person door, not blocking the truck bay or any vehicles/equipment. Walk in, ask for Poncho...he's the shop foreman. If Poncho isn't there usually the other foreman on duty will take your stuff.

Everything needs to arrive to Colorific Coatings sandblasted and degreased. They will won't do any prep, so your surface look will turn out however well you've prepped it. I have done plenty of sets of wheels, suspension components, trade show booth parts, furniture, you name it. The finish is always very good, I've never had any issues with cracking/chipping/etc. BUT, I do highly recommend you only bring undercarriage parts and parts you're okay with an 8 of 10 finish on. Once you visit the shop you'll realize they are a production facility that specializes in fence products. Your parts just "join the line" so the heat is set for whatever fence bits they are doing that day. On that note, always bring your full job at once. Don't bring two wheels this week and two wheels next week hoping they'll have the exact same finish.

I've always received an 8 of 10 or better finish on my parts. Occasionally they'll come with a bit of orange peel or a drip...this is due to the heat not being set correctly for *my* parts. (note, this has never happened on a set of wheels but I'm not guaranteeing their work!). The benefit of Colorific coatings is the price. Black or White wheels used to cost me $20-25 a wheel (last set done in 2005). I've done the entire suspension on an Audi for less then it would have cost me to buy rattle-can paint. If you're looking for absolute show-quality, or pearl colors, etc. This is not the shop for you.

Once the guys get to know you after a trip or two, like any friendship they'll start helping you out even further. I used to walk in with wheels for my rally car and tell them to just "coat them whatever color was being done today, I don't care about the finish" and then the next week bring a set of nice wheels. As long as I asked they were always careful with my important bits, and I've never had a problem with the finish.

HTH
